The Site
Question:
Is this a site for ESL teachers?
Answer:
This site is for anyone that ever was an expat, is an expat, or might
become an expat, whether in Korea or elsewhere. Many of our users are
working for companies both in and out of Korea, some are military, and
some are teachers. Some of our users simply like the atmosphere here.
The bottom line is that we welcome anyone as long as they can get along
with our miscreant membership!
Question:
The site looks small, and all the links don't work for me.
Answer:
You are a master of the obvious! A good portion of the site (to include
features) is only available to registered users who are logged in. What
are you waiting for?
Question:
I see there is a new Job Tips and Leads Forum. Are you letting
recruiters post?
Answer:
No! Not! Never!!! This is just a place where users can pass on job leads, arrange
privates lessons, or pass your good job on to a buddy. The only rule
here is that you be honest and aren't in the recruiting business.
Contact RF or Punter if you have questions or concerns.
Question:
I'm planning on going to Korea and need some information. Will you help?
Answer:
Sure. That's what we're here for.
Question:
Does anyone here read and write Korean? Can I use Korean on the site?
Answer:
Many of our users do, some are Korean natives.
The chat box doesn’t accept Hangul at the moment, but the forums and
other features do.
Question:
Do
you guys ever get together in real life?
Answer:
We sure do. There's usually a message about a get together or outing
posted. If you're in a remote area, or are new to Korea, this is an
excellent opportunity to meet new friends.
The Modding
Question:
What do the mods do here?
Answer:
The mods aren't here to stifle your opinions, apologize for the raw deal
you may have received, or babysit. We're here to keep just a bit of
sanity on the site. Any regular poster will tell you that while there
are rules we go by, the site is generally self-regulating. If you act
like an ass, expect to be treated like one.
Question:
Do you accept any commercial advertising from hagwons or recruiters?
Answer:
No, this is a not for profit site.
Question:
Can I have a sock?
Answer:
If you want.
Question:
Do you care what I say on other sites?
Answer:
Nope! We could care less what you say or do at other websites.
Question:
Do you have a swear filter here?
Answer:
We do have one, but it is disabled. If you feel the need to swear, you
may. We're all adults here and we've all heard it before.
Question:
You actually have a forum where I can rant about my job?
Answer:
Yes, but please keep your rants factual. This site is hosted and
registered in the US, so Korean internet laws aren't our concern.
Question:
What is the purpose of Fight Club?
Answer:
Fight Club is a section of the board where users are free to troll,
attack, and act like jackasses with little or no moderation. The rules
are simple: No real names, no pictures, no family, and no links.
Question:
Can I post events in the forum?
Answer:
It is commercial advertising, we consider it spam, so post it at
another site. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis for regular
posters.
Question:
Can I post about "The Cafe" here?
Answer:
Sigh...If you feel the need to vent, then yes you may.
