And it dawned on me I have no idea what they are. Last time I had an E2 it was simple in relative terms: - transcripts - diploma - CRC (and the first E2 I ever got didn't have this). I know there are more hoops and Xs now, but what the fuck do you actually have to do/have in order to get an E2? |

After immi has their hot little hands on your docs they'll process a visa issuance number. This gets sent back to you. Now you have to get the following docs to the Korean consulate or embassy - for newbs this is when you'll have your interview, so it has to be a home-country embassy or consulate. For previous hires you can just do a visa run to Japan or other country where there is a Korean embassy. In either case you'll need the following
"Phew"! It's sure a lot more paper work than when I first came here. |

| Ilporko Internet Toughguy | Depending on your nationality you might not have to give immi your original degree. (I'd sooner burn it...) You get it notorised/copied and signed by a solicitor/lawyer and then apostilled, which is done (in Ireland at least) by the foreign office. It's a pain in the arse but at least you don't have to worry about some Korean fucker losing your degree. Oh, just for comparison, here's what I had to send for my z-visa (E2 basically) in China: Scan of my passport, degrees, teaching cert, one reference (teaching related), letter from a doctor saying that I don't have swine flu and am in reasonable health, and an application form. All by email and scanned images only. I got offered the job on Monday, accepted on Tuesday, went to the doctor on Friday and the next Monday I got a message saying that my visa application was being processed by immi. __________________ "We should let the animals run wild and free, for it says in the bible that we should let the animals run wild and free.' -Homer Simpson. |

| dogshed Internet Toughguy | I say never send your original degree to Korea. Some schools will replace it for a small fee, some for a large fee, and some not at all. When I did it I got four copies certified or certificated by the consulate, but last I heard they no longer do that. Now you get the copies apostiled. A lot of people use the term notarized, but I think that is confusing. Some states in the US, I've heard, will allow notary publics to verify copies of documents, but this is probably not acceptable by immigration. __________________ 'It's a lovely day, isn't it?'. This is referenced to the inclement weather in England. The people who live in an area with nice weather like Korea aren't touched by this kind of thing but Englishmen can be impressed. Time since I left Korea. |
