Health Department Imbeciles, Moronic Parents, and Swine Flu.

So one of my students was away all last week. She comes back to class on Monday and it turns out she was in the Philippines. Today we've found out she got swine flu and I taught her on Monday so the health department fucks have told me not to go to work until the 13th, that is, if I don't come down with swine flu in the mean time.

I know foreigners who are coming from overseas have been told not to go to work for one week after they come to/get back to Korea but what about the Koreans going overseas? This obviously doesn't apply to them (Koreans) or at least this student's parents thinks so. Now I don't mind a week off work but I'll probably lose some money because of it but my big worry is my young son getting it from me or from being at the hagwon yesterday for a visit. I feel fine now so hopefully I didn't get it from her

STUPIDMORONIC FUCKING PARENTS for sending her to our hagwon the day after she got back from the Philippines but oh no those dirty foreigners have to be quarantined if they've been overseas but the pure Han race are immune with their kimchi .

I also have to now cancel, and lose money because of it, our trip to Chejudo this weekend. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR for fuck sake!!!!!

I told my wife that we should call the FUCKWIT parents of this student and tell them they are to pay for our cancelled vacation (just the money we lose in cancellation fees) and the money we'll lose cause I won't be working for a week. I know they've been telling peole at the airports not to go to work, school or hagwons for a week after getting to Korea and these ABSOLUTE FUCKING IMBECILE MORONS sent their daughter to our hagwon the very next day after getting back to Korea. It's their fault this shit is now all happening because of the usual don't give a fuck or even think about anyone else Korean mentality so the CUNTS should pay. I can gaurantee when we ask them for money, they'll have no clue as to why

If they refuse, I'm of a right mind to try and sue them for loss of profit from our business, loss of income from me not being able to work, and loss of money for our cancelled vacation. Not to mention risking my 20 month old son's health, and possibly life. They can't really fight it either as they were told not to send their kid to school or hagwons at the airport but they just ignored that like all good Koreans do (add heavy, heavy sarcasm here).

As for the health department DICKS, I'm the only teacher who's been told no to go to work for a week. Not one of the Korean teachers or my wife (Korean) who's wangjang have been told not to go to work for a week

Stories like yours are what keeps from getting all nostalgic and rosey-eyed about Korea and wanting to return. I'm sure that you will turn out to be fine, but I know that even then, you still have to deal with the reputation of swine flu now that you've been "accused" of having it. I'm so sorry. Really sucks.

But just so you know, girl was told that she can't leave the country during vacation because of the foreigner pig death. If she does she will have to be quarantined. Apparently they will be checking passports. (elementary teacher) *edit* so it's not just foreigners.

Still, the whole thing is stupid, like most shit here. I can't wait to leave.

So far there have been 519 deaths as a result of the swine flu. Hundreds of thousands die each year from regular influenza. I don't know if all the madness of swine flu is justified.

The madness is only justified because people are rushing off to hospitals and hospitals can't cope with the number of paitients.
As an illness its no worse than the flu..in fact some reports say its milder...
The actual worry is what virus will develop from it....but this is Korea. Over reaction and Korea goes hand in hand.
